SOS Transition Program
School Transition lets students engage with their new school to succeed academically and socially. The program develops friendships across grade levels and creates a caring school environment.
The program is unique in its use of trained peer leaders who mentor the same small group of 6-10 incoming students throughout the first semester of their transition. The program is built upon a specific structure and curriculum and provides a continuous and stable relationship with an upper class peer for at least the first semester and often longer by mutual choice. In addition there is ongoing school faculty support in both the classrooms where the program takes place with at least one certificated coordinator of the S.O.S. program.
