SOS creates safety and belonging so students succeed academically, feel comfortable being themselves, and develop character assets. School Transition, Bridges to Safety, Peer Mediation, and KLEAR  (Kids Learn Empathy and Respect) are proven peer-facilitated programs that help orient and connect students to their school.

School Transition lets students engage with their new school to succeed academically and socially. The National Schools of Character Award winning curriculum develops friendships across grade levels and creates a caring school environment. SOS offers a proven School Transition training program.

Bridges to Safety is a simple and effective guide to help teens teach conflict resolution skills to younger students. With this program of eight lessons and about one hour per week of volunteer time, you will help students build character, model peaceful communication, develop essential social skills, and create a safe and caring school community.

Peer Mediation creates a safe school environment, builds a sense of ownership and pride, and develops character. The program teaches conflict resolution and develops a strong school culture through cross-grade student relationships. [More about this training]
Klear/School Climate: Building Empathy and Respect is an effective training program which leads the school and parents to work together to eliminate the language of hate and bullying — and instead create a common language of respect and empathy for all, both at school and in the home.

Students Offering Support was created by Maureen Campbell and Sharon Yoerg in 1989 in Redwood City, California.  We are based in the San Francisco Bay Area but will travel to give trainings.

Mission: We build safe, healthy, caring and successful school communities.

Vision: A world where children grow up with a sense of purpose and feel connected to each other and their world.

Strategy: To build character by teaching communication and facilitation skills so students support one another as peers, mentors and mediators.
